If you are looking for photo management tool! i think Picasa 3 is good tool to try.
The software now has the ability to support up to a million photos on your computer and plenty of other improvements like screen capture, retouch images, cropping, Add text or watermarks, create/edit movies and many other features and changes.

Another nice feature call “Picase Photo Viewer” which you must enable during the installation process! The aforementioned quick-view tool that opens when you double-click an image file, haha…just the “looks” and “feels”… anytime better then “window photo viewer lah” wahahah ;)

See more new features in Picasa 3 Video!, really help a lot!

A new technology presented at Siggraph 2007 for resizing pictures / retouching.

Wow…. amazing… the software performs calculations on the entropy of an image to allow you to resize it while keeping the overall look and quality of the image. Have a look of this video clip, it is nice to see something innovative like this…..! look like i don’t need to invest a wide angle lens….kekeke ;)

but problem here, “where to get this software” ?

I’ve used the Sony R1 for almost 3 years, and so far this is the best prosumer class camera that I’ve come across. The camera produces very sharp and natural colored photos, especially for landscape, macro and portrait shots and the best part is that the camera lens is wide enough at 24mm, which is something always lacking in other compact cameras…hihi…70% of my previous work was produced from this camera.

Result of 24mm Wide Angle Lens (**Normal Compact Camera Wide Range from 28mm - 35mm)

Nowadays, almost all compact cameras in the same price range has almost the same features, and for the average user, and if you can only get one digital compact camera, you might want to consider getting a wide-angled camera, you shouldn’t pass up these 3 models which has lens as wide as ~ 24mm.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 (Coming Soon)

Ricoh GX100 (not easy to get it in Malaysia loh ;) )

Samsung NV24 (Available now)

lastly, haha, though I am not so an expert, I hope this will help you to narrow down the choices for all of you. As there’s no harm in using a wide-angles camera, who knows, it will come in handy in situations where you need to take group shots and the room is just not big enough for you to move back to get everyone in the photo!

Good Try ;)

Great News for Sony DSLR User !

As a “Sony” and Nikon strong supporter, i always like to see the new improvements on their new gadgets and I can’t wait to hold them in my hands ;)

GimpShop, an open-source program that does most of what PHOTOSHOP can do - and even mimics photoshop’s interface, thanks to another open source add on.

Gimp offer such sophisticated editing features as layers, channels, redeye reduction and a host of third-party plug-ins. There’s even a plug-in available, called UFRaw, which allows Gimp to work with the uncompressed, raw images file formats that many DSLRs offer.

Enjoy:)

Some screen shots, look 90% like Photoshop and it is FREE :)
